Lotus Traveler and GPRS Traffic....

Vladislavs Tatarincevs  13 January 2009 13:16:44
Today I connected my Nokia N80 to Lotus Traveler thought GPRS,  not the Local Wireless,
I tried to test how much traffic Traveler generate.

For 4 hours, it received ~210KB, sent 160KB, totally 370KB. I assume, during the 8hour working day it will be close to 750KB. In average I sent/receive 70-80 emails, excluding received SPAM.
I configured my Traveler to truncate mail to 2K.

So ... Traveler is rather economic, it DOES NOT generate a lot of traffic. so people can use it using wireless and as well GPRS connection as well. and charges for traffic won't be HIGH!

so my experience is that daily Traveler uses ~1MB of traffic. which is very well and OK for my. may be this info will help you to calculate charges for you local provider :)

you can share your Traffic statistics in comments :)

so once again, Lotus Traveler is a real KILLER APPS :)

P.S. it would be nice to receive some info from IBM Support, how to enable WIPE on NOKIAs... ;)

I have chronicled - but not tested about Traveler v8.5 on my blog and FINALLY found someone who's loaded it - thanks to you Vlaad. I'm curious if you can do a feature with screenshots, please and also if possible posting a video on Youtube to accompany your Traveler Server installation ;) . I don't think the N80 has the security component your looking for like Remote Encryption or Remote Wipe like the E71.
