    What notes.ini parameters you ALWAYS put in the server’s notes.ini file?

    Vladislavs Tatarincevs  22 November 2008 12:08:55

    I have my own set of NOTES.INI parameters that I always put in the servers notes.ino file.

    like

    SMTPExpandDNSBLStats =1
    CONSOLE_LOG_ENABLED=1
    Console_Log_Max_Kbytes=2048
    DEBUG_AMGR=*
    converter_log_level=10
    Rm_No_Log_Objects_In_Mailbox=1
    RM_NO_LOG_LARGE_OBJECTS=1
    schedule_disabletxnlogging=1
    MailBoxDisableTXNLogging=1

    or
    SSL_RESUMABLE_SESSION=0   here is a post

    in every new release of Domino I update this list with new things, like

    CREATE_R8_DATABASES=1
    or
    CREATE_R85_DATABASES=1

    would it be nice to have BEST PRACTICE NOTES.INI set? not only explanation of what each parameter means?

    I suggest you to share you set of DEFAULT notes.ini parameters, by commenting this post.

    I will process all the comments, and will publish the resulting set of notes.ini parameters.

    Standard for all servers:

    ClockType=24_hour

    UPDATERS=2

    Update_FullText_Thread=1

    View_rebuild_dir=e:\view_rebuild

    For Mail Servers:

    iNotes_WA_LogoutRedirect="our intranet page"

    I insert these via the configuration documents and server groups to ensure that I don't have to manage the notes.ini directly.

    You should use DEBUG_AMGR just if debugging agents. Otherwise don't use since it kills resources.. not too much but still does it.

    Thanks for comment concerning DEBUG_AMGR,

    I totally agree that ALL debug parameters does NOT improve performance, majority of organizations use Domino for applications also, not only mail, so if I deploy my set of applications on customer site, and customer call me what AGENT didn't work, so if I have AMGR_DEBUG enabled, i see it in a log, if I don't have to enable, wait next night and then disable again. Both ways are possible, but I prefer first, one because customer has faster solution to his problem ;)
