    What Questions you will be asked if you do Traveler presentation

    During last 2 weeks, I have done 4 Lotus Traveler presentations to different customers.
    Would like to share what customers asked me during these presentations.

    Half of people who come to presentations are IT Security People :))))

    Hope this will be useful for some people.


    Q0. Supported deviced?
    A0. Windows mobile and starting from Jan2009, Traveler 8.5 Nokia Symbian.

    Q1. Does it support encrypted mail?
    A1. Yes, Traveler 8.5 supports crypted mails.

    Q2. What to do if device is lost/stollen.
    A2. Lock and Wipe it remotely. Read my previous post http://www.vlaad.lv/lotus.nsf/dx/traveler-security-in-device-is-loststolen

    It is possible to do it in Traveler 8.5

    Q3. Does it support Address book?
    A3. Yes, it does.

    Q3.1. Address lookup from Domino Directory?
    A3.1. As far as I know NO, Please comment if I am wrong or 8.5 version has different behavior.

    Q4. Supported OS for server
    A4. So far Win32 only. hope linux will be soon also available.

    Q5. In case customer is running 7.0.3 Domino, and we put additional 8.5 server+Traveler 8.5 in DMZ, will he need an additional Domino licence ???
    this Domino 8.5 will run ONLY Traveler service, no Databases/apps on it.

    A5. Well, at the moment I am searching for answer, hope some one can share his ideas.
    Many customers are on 7.x  and  this question   is rather actual for  me.
    Will Appreciate any help/ideas.



    Q6. If customer has Domino + SameTime,  is it ok to put Traveler on top of It?
    A6. Here is technote, but I remember that IBM advises to run only ONE advanced product on a server, don't make cocktails on Domino, Like QuickR, SameTime, Traveler and Workflow on one server, and wonder why it does not work...

    My experience show that after presenting Traveler almost all customer decided to start pilot project, and some finally decided to upgrade from 6.x - > 8.x, or from 7.x to 8.x.

    Vlad, thanks for compiling this list. Just a heads up that the link to Ulrich's site is busted, at least for me in FF. Seems to have a space in the word "Notes" where it appears as "Note s".

    I want to see screen shots, or ideally a video, of tasks on the Symbian. The Symban task support is poor. Wondering if Traveller fixes this with their own app...

    @Erick :

    I may be wrong, but I don't think there will be a Traveler Task app. I think, Traveler will use the build-in task app, as any other sync product I know (e.g. IntelliSync (R.I.P.), OneBridge, mNotes).

    Sorry for misspelling your name. In german language the name is written "Erik" most times, so I might have been a bit confused ;-)

    You can load traveler on the same box as other products but you may have to reconfigure some web related items and pointers. If you have 100's or 1,000's of users on one machine you should not put traveler on it, same as a BES box should be separate.

    If a SMB you can do it usually.

    We have one server which runs domino, bes and traveler on the same box but it's not recommended by anyone, but it's a small office and they didn't want 3 servers.
